This line in the Five Fingers Area is called Jade (WI5). As our buddy,
Matt, was preparing to rappel this route he took a nasty swinging fall from
the top when some ice gave way from under his feet. I caught him
falling in the corner of my eye and an instant sensation of dread came over
me. Fortunately, he was attached to the rappel ropes and had backed
himself up with an autoblock! So, while he swung into the ice rather
hard and scared the crap out of himself and the rest of us, no real harm was
done.
