The last day of our May 2003 Trip we hit the Needle's Eye Parking lot area
early in the morning to avoid the tourist's congestion later in the day
(plus, we had to be on the road heading back home). Will and I
attempted Bloody Spire, the high point in this photo. We had
difficulty interpreting the guidebook's description and repeatedly tried to
go the wrong way. Eventually we found our way to the top of
Homeward Spire, the lower peak on the right. From here we had to make
an exciting simul-rappel to get back to the ground. An ascent of
Bloody Spire will have to wait for another time.
