I reached the logical end of the first pitch atop a huge detached flake.  Will followed me up and took off on the second pitch.  We could see rappel slings at the top and figured that the easiest way down would be to go up.  The beginning of the second pitch offered no protection at all, and Will was starting to get pretty gripped on a very steep traverse when, much to his and my relief, a bolt appeared right in front of his eyes.  With this protection clipped he made it into an easy gully and ran it out all the way to the top.
