The Rest Day to End All Rest Days

The day after we climbed Bugaboo Spire would have been an amazing day to do some climbing!  There were no clouds in the sky and hardly any wind all day long.  As nice as it would have been to get out and climb something, our bodies demanded rest.  My legs were so tired from the descent off Bugaboo that even the short trip down to the outhouse hurt!

Fortunately, we weren't the only ones hanging around camp.  Our new friends from Seattle were equally motivated after a bit of an epic on Brenta Spire the previous day.  So, after having some breakfast around our campsite, we migrated into theirs.  Sandy had been busy all week on improvements to their campsite.  Each of us had our own rock recliner to hang out in!  So this is how we spent the day--lounging around, soaking in the sun, and swapping stories.

But don't think the day was totally wasted!  After much discussion and attempts to motivate one another, we finally got up off our duffs to go check out a cave in the toe of the Crescent Glacier.  We had a lot of fun down there and got ice cold showers too!

Once back at camp we resumed our positions at camp Seattle.  We were rather amused when other climbers started returning from the day's climbs and we were all in exactly the same places as when they had left in the morning!
