After climbing up a steep hill through the trees, the East Opabin Trail
emerges into an open alpine meadow. Wiwaxy Peak is still visible in
the center. Perhaps I was obsessing, but I found it hard to take my
eyes off of it. The climb we wanted to do (Grassi Ridge) follows the
left skyline of the peak (although the lower portion is hidden behind a
closer buttress in this photo). Though we were reasonably confident
that we could find our way up the route, we really weren't sure where the
descent route was.
