I don't think anything had quite prepared us for this view over Big Shovel
Pass. The landscape changed again and became quite barren. We
could see our destination for the day in the valley at the left of this
photo, but it still looked a long way away. At this point we had been
on the trail for 6 hours and covered about 11 miles. Not exactly
lightening speed but not bad considering all the flowers we stopped to
smell!
